Meet The New Rider Steven Prior # 910

Steve is another of our Canadian rider who comes from Calgary, Alberta. He enjoys outdoor sports such as cross country skiing, alpine skiing and hiking. He also enjoys doing renovation projects. He started riding long distance motorcycles about 10 yrs. ago.  As a follower of a Harley Davidson forum on the internet he read about a Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenger and was curious what that meant so he looked it up. Initially as he was reading about it he thought "Oh this could be a lot of fun." But as he started digging deeper and talking to HHMC riders and reading their testimonials that all changed. He realized how this could be a new life journey. "This has become a very personal thing."

For Steve preparation for this amazing journey is mental preparation. Knowing his limits and that this is not a race, allows him the freedom to stop and help a fellow rider rather than worry who gets to the finish line first. He finds it interesting one person says "why would you do something like this?" And another would say "Why wouldn't you do something like the HHMC?"  He knows he has to keep the event in perspective not going into this with an attitude to "finish at all cost."

He has received a lot of advice about sleeping and security in numbers but being an avid rider the riding itself will not be the issue. Going into this without a lot of expectations he is very intrigued by the cultural aspect and knows the challenge will be life altering.  His family is very supportive of him doing the challenge.
