The Challenge that is
Hoka Hey is not for everyone. If you
don’t like to be frustrated and you are easily discouraged then the Hoka Hey
Challenge may not be for you. However,
if you feel a need to challenge yourself or you want to push your known limits
then Hoka Hey was made for you. The main
focus of The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is to bring awareness of the Native
American Indian and the struggles they live through every day of every year. We do this by directing riders through many
of the American Indian Reservations in the United States as well as some of the
nation’s most spectacular roadways. Some
of the reservations are doing well financially, others are not and these are
our focus. The philosophy adopted by
Hoka Hey is to ride with integrity, honesty and respect. Not only respect for other riders but respect
for this Nation and its citizens.
Our goal, as hard as
it is, is to enlighten our Challengers on several levels. First and foremost is to not take what you
have for granted and second, a call to action to share what you have with those
who have not. The Native Americans DO
NOT want us to take care of them or provide for their every need, but they do
ask for a chance and a glimmer of hope that they can use to provide for
themselves. It is this that we want to
offer, but to do that we need you. The
Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge has combined efforts with the Pine Ridge Area
Chamber of Commerce to implement a number of initiatives. To provide scholarships to deserving students
who wish to improve their standing in the community as well as provide security
for small business loans that will be used to improve the economic foundation
of the Reservation. Our intent is to
also fund a documentary on the Pine Ridge Reservation condition. To help fund these initiatives your tax
deductible contribution can be provided to The Pine Ridge Area Chamber of
Commerce by going to www.pineridgechamber.com.
Step out of your comfort
zone and test yourself; put yourself into a position that may result in
failure. Even if you fail you will have accomplished
something very few will ever understand let alone try. However, I think you may be pleasantly
surprised at your ability to meet and possibly exceed this Challenge. Is it easy?
No. Is it something everyone can
do? No.
Is it something you can do? Only
you can answer that.
