Pine Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce |

While mainstream Americans are only accustomed to seeing poverty on TV; most cannot begin to grasp the unacceptable state of affairs that exist on Indian Reservations around the U.S.. And although there are a number of fortunate Indian Nations whose people earn a very good living through casinos and natural resources; there are a staggering number of residents in the reservation system that live in abject conditions which rival and even surpass that of many Third World countries.
However, despite the overwhelming adversity, there are organizations like the Pine Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce (PRACC) that are working to counteract decades of oppression and forced destruction of their culture in hopes of bringing citizens back to a life of self-respect and self-sufficiency in today’s world.
The Pine Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary non-profit corporation whose purpose is to improve the quality of life on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation by creating, sustaining and enhancing Indian owned businesses. Applying the Lakota values of Honesty, Wisdom, Respect, Courage, Fortitude, Responsibility, and Generosity to the economic setting, the Chamber intends to empower people and create hope for a brighter future.
The Medicine Show LLC and the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge are proud to help the Pine Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce in their efforts and all of our promotions held throughout the coming months will serve to remind everyone that we can help to empower the people who live on Pine Ridge to make the reservation a better place in which to live, work, and raise a family.
The PRACC, located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, is the chosen non-profit organization of the 2022 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge so, if you haven’t already selected a charity to work with during this year’s ride, we encourage you to consider the Pine Ridge Area Chamber of Commerce. Ours has been a long standing partnership which has benefited the youth of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the form of college scholarships. All money we raise in 2022 on behalf of the PRACC will go to support the Chamber’s scholarship program and will be awarded as five individual scholarships for the 2023/2024 school year.
The PRACC has recently created a donation button on PayPal which can be used for your own fundraising efforts. Just contact us at info@hokaheychallenge.com to get the link. All donations are tax deductible.
PRACC would like to thank Hoka Hey for this opportunity and look forward to another great year!
