Coaching youth sports, hunting and fishing take up most of the free time Jeff has when he isn't riding his motorcycle. He learned about the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge from following endurance riding on the internet and his friend John participated as well. The attraction is more then a long distance challenge for Jeff. He has heard the life changing stories and that it raises awareness for lots of different causes.
To prepare for the challenge he is no long using GPS to navigate and experimenting with packing the and organizing his gear figuring out what needs to change and what works. New bike, new handlebars are just a couple things he has done. Time away from the family has been the only obstacle he has had. They are supporting his event. He has a goal to lose 25 lbs. so hiking has helped build up his endurance. Preparing mentally as well. He has not set a goal to be the first one to cross the finish line. He just wants to finish "with a smile on my face and my bike and body in one piece."
Jeff has received support from Williams Harley Davidson. He wants to represent his dealer and nonprofit well. He will be riding for Team Jamesy who support a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy through Jar Of HOPE. There is no cure for this disease yet. He chose this charity because a friend of his is dealing with this disease with one of his sons.
