Meet The New Rider # 1260 Kari Karlin

My name is Kari Conklin, AKA Andretti, or HH #1260.  I will be joining you from Laurel, Montana.  I am a wife, mother of two children, step mom to three, step-grandma, and dog mom to two of the best boys in the world!  My paying job is a real estate agent in Montana and Yuma, Arizona and I operate two short term rentals in Yuma.  Outside of work, you can find me in my craft room doing any one of a million different crafts or in my yard working with flowers or my garden.

I have been riding since 2000 when I got started on a Ninja 250.  That bike was too small so worked my way up to Yamaha V-Star 650.  I gave up riding for a few years while having my son but got back in the game when I bought my first Harley.  Since then, there’s been no stopping me.  I joined a women’s riding club called the Tenacious Dames.  I can now proudly say I’ve seen more of Montana on two wheels than a cage.  As our chapters Head Road Dame, I plan our rides ensuring everyone arrives safely utilizing basic hand signals and is comfortable riding in group formations. With these ladies, I have ridden in 3 Iron Butt challenges in Montana leading us through some hellacious thunderstorms and wind.

Why did I sign up for the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge? I’ve always been one for a challenge, doing things a little above and beyond and living my life with no regrets.  I don’t want to get to my death bed and say “what if”!  I want to be remembered as someone that left their mark in the world and go down kicking and screaming saying I’ve got more things to accomplish.

My chosen charity is the Ramsey Keller Foundation.  In Montana, they pay for funerals of babies under a year of age.  Why did I chose them?  I was raised as an “only” child, however, my parents had another daughter.  My mom carried Jennifer full-term, to only have her still born.  My entire life would have been different if she lived.  I’ve gone through so many experiences wishing that I had her by my side.  This ride and fundraising are done in her honor.  The link to my fundraising page can be found here. Facebook or you can make a donation using this Givesmart link Ramsey Keller Memorial

I look forward to meeting you all at the starting and finish line!
