Meet The New Rider # 1209 David Resmo

Hi all. My name is David Resmo and live just south of Denver in Centennial Colorado
with my wife Christen and 1 knucklehead dog, Rowdi. We also have a cabin in a small
ranching and farming community in Westcliffe CO, which has some great riding in the
area. Recently we put up a glamping Tipi to accommodate friends and family. I feel
lucky to live in an area with some incredible motorcycle routes. I was born and raised in
the area and bought my first bike while in Durango CO, going to school, a Yamaha Seca
750 and a YZ250 dirt bike. That is when I began my riding. I lived in a small mining town
outside of Durango and would ride to work or school whenever the weather or season
permitted. I bought my first Harley in 1995, a 1991 Fatboy, and still have it today
although it does not get many miles put on it.

I really do not remember exactly how I heard about the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge but think is was through social media while watching long distance motorcycling groups. I would follow the trackers for the Iron Butt Rally and then the Hoka Hey and that is where I became mesmerized and thought, I want to do this. I have had few events in my life where I felt driven to challenge myself. A couple examples of this was starting my own business, 20 years ago and another was climbing a 20,000-foot peak in Bolivia. I have the same gut urge now with this challenge. I have now met a few of the riders since signing up and am looking forward to meeting everyone and joining the Hoka Hey family.

I am supporting the non-profit Field of Dreams which helps disabled veterans get out on
hunting and fishing trips. I met them years ago while playing in their annual golf
tournament here in Colorado. Great organization and great people.
“ We are a group of outdoor enthusiasts who are dedicated to providing the
means and opportunity to participate in activities like hunting and fishing, to
special needs kids, individuals who have served in the US military, and/or their
children.”
It has been fun planning for this challenge and am really looking forward to
meeting everyone at the start and hopefully end up in Homer.
